Mr. Popoola Akande, Adeboyega II

Popoola Akande is the Founder and President of Canadian Imperial Advantage (CIA), one of six recognized BIPOC nonprofit organizations dedicated to empowering underserved entrepreneurs in Canada.

Under his leadership, CIA has placed more than $26 million in capital, served over 1800 clients, and supported 800+ businesses. With over 22 years of experience across Africa, the United Kingdom, and Canada, including leadership roles at Citibank, ATB Financial, Barclays, and Canadian Western Bank, Mr. Akande has guided CIA’s evolution into a nationally recognized entrepreneurial support center.

His outstanding contributions have earned him prestigious recognitions, including the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal (2023) and the Alberta Newcomer Recognition Award. Mr. Akande is a firm believer in the power of entrepreneurship to create jobs, drive investment, and build stronger, more connected communities.
