Financial/Grant Accountant

Canadian Imperial Advantage is looking for a Financial Accountant that will be responsible for running their accounting and financial activities. This individual will analyze the financial stability of the company, provide financial information to other departments, report on costs, productivity, margins, and company expenditures. As well as overseeing the grant services in the organization.

Primary responsibilities are:

  • Preparing the monthly profit and loss, and balance sheet reports.
  • Preparing weekly cash flow statements, and controlling expenditure and cash flow.
  • Responding to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data.
  • Assisting with the preparation of year-end accounts and statutory accounts.
  • Responding to financial inquiries by gathering and interpreting data.
  • Examining financial records to check for accuracy.
  • Document accounting procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, safeguards, and company policies.
  • Process GST remittance: reconcile banks and investment accounts.
  • Resolve CRA related inquiries and prepare related submissions.

Other general office related tasks as needed:

  • Preparing grant-level monthly budget status and progress reports.
  • Align all expenditures with approved budgets.
  • Managing overall financials of grant efforts and optimizing the grant administration process.
  • Reviewing grant documentation and ensuring compliance with grant funding regulations.
  • Coordinating and engaging with grant writers and senior leadership.
  • Preparing and monitoring budgets for grants; including coding, tracking expenses, recording revenue, and balancing spending.
  • Managing the grant database for accurate and complete data entry for all aspects of contracts, amendments, payments, and reporting.
  • Training and coaching new and existing community partners.

Job Requirements

  • A degree in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance.
  • CPA designation or similar experience (non-profit accounting experience).
  • Knowledge of GAAP, business principles and standard operating practices.
  • Project management skills.
  • Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • A keen eye for detail and desire to probe further into data.
  • Have good organizational and time management skills.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel/Word proficiency is required.

Web Manager, Marketing, & Social Media Specialist

Canadian Imperial Advantage is seeking an Intermediate Web Developer and Digital Content Specialist responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress websites. This position requires a combination of programming skills (namely PHP, HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript) and aesthetics (understanding element arrangements on the screen, the color, font choices, and so on). The candidate should have a strong understanding of working within a CMS and developing with modern frameworks.

Primary responsibilities are:

  1. Building responsive and dynamic websites for clients.
  2. Working as designers to implement visual interfaces.
  3. Designing and implementing new features and functionality.
  4. Establishing and guiding the website’s architecture.
  5. Ensuring high-performance and availability and managing all technical aspects of the CMS.
  6. Helping formulate an effective responsive design and turning it into a working theme and plugin Possibility for some design if interested.

Job Requirements 

Graphic Design Skills:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Adobe XD) or similar platforms to wireframe designs for presentation.
  • Understanding of Word press and builders.
  • Understanding of current web standards, principles, and best practices with regards to digital marketing, display ads, and social media.

Web Development Skills:

  • Understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery.
  • Understanding of PHP back-end development (desired).
  • Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications.
  • Experience designing and developing responsive design websites.
  • Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers.
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layout and wireframes into working HTML pages.
  • Proficiency in Word press, WooCommerce, Elementor.
  • E-Commerce strategy or experience.
  • Ability to clearly communicate ideas and collaborate at all levels.
  • Photography and video editing skills a plus.
